Nikos Veliotis


     Nikos Veliotis (b.1970. in Athens, Greece) is an improviser, experimental musician and video artist. He has been working since 1990's, using the cello as his main instrument. Besides solo projects, he is also involved in groups CRANC (with Rhodri Davies, harp and Angharad Davies, violin), Looper (with Martin Küchen, saxophone and Ingar Zach, percussion), Texturizer (with Coti K, electronics), and Tricycle (Michael Duch, double bass and Anita Kasbool, voice). Besides improvising, he has also worked on composing, and intermedia performances. His video works are based on "static overlays of digital trash and other digital found material (through internet or broadcasts) combined with live sound or silence" He is also the organizer of the annual 2:13 experimental festival in Athens.


      Νίκος Βελιώτης (Αθήνα 1970). Ασχολείται με την πειραματική μουσική και εικόνα από το τέλος της δεκαετίας του 90 με βασικό όργανο το βιολοντσέλο. Εκτός από σόλο ηχογραφεί και εμφανίζεται με γκρουπ όπως οι CRANC (μαζί με τους Rhodri Davies – άρπα και Angharad Davies – βιολί), Looper (μαζί με τους Martin Küchen – σαξόφωνο και Ingar Zach – κρουστά), texturizer (μαζί με τον Coti K. – ηλεκτρονικά) και tricycle (με τους Michael Duch – κοντραμπάσο και Anita Kasbool – φωνή). Τα βίντεο έργα του βασίζονται σε στατικές στρώσεις ψηφιακών ‘σκουπιδιών’ που βρίσκει στο ιντερνετ, συνδυασμό με ήχο ή σιωπή. Οργανώνει το φεστιβάλ πειραματικής μουσικής και εικόνας 2:13 στην Αθήνα.
